AISG Signs MoU with ITE
AISG has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) where both parties will collaborate to support ITE’s students’ capabilities in Artificial Intelligence through AISG’s “AI for Students (AI4S)”* programme, which was announced in Nov’18.
“I am very pleased that AI Singapore is signing an MOU with ITE today, indicating their commitment to collaborate with ITE and work with our staff and students to ensure our ITE graduates will be equipped with AI skillsets for their respective jobs and be ready to work in the future digital economy,’’ said Low Khah Gek, CEO of ITE.
“We have deliberately requested for all ITE students to be equipped with foundational AI capabilities and for some students to acquire much deeper AI skills. This stems from the belief that in the years ahead, foundational AI skills will be needed in every industry and trade. Given the reality of pervasive and rising AI adoption in Singapore, it is opportune that we start this partnership with AISG to provide AI training for our students. We are glad to jumpstart by using AISG’s teaching resources and online modules.”
In his address to the audience, Laurence Liew, Director of AI Industry Innovation, commented that ITE is the first educational institution in Singapore to embark on this programme institution-wide. “I am heartened that through this initiative and partnership, we are even one step closer to enabling and building the AI talent development pipeline in Singapore.” said Laurence.
In attendance at the MoU signing ceremony were the Principals/Deputy Principals from the 3 Colleges (ITE College Central, ITE College West, ITE College East), Directors of School of Electronics and Infocomm, School of Engineering and AISG representatives.
*AI4S is FREE to all educators in Singapore public schools and universities. Offered in collaboration with DataCamp, schools can tap on one of the best data science education platform to teach data skills to the students and make data fluency part of their learning journey.
